Petron rolls back cooking gas prices

Households may get some relief from rising costs of living after at least one oil firm rolled back the prices of liquefied petroleum gas products effective Friday.

In an advisory on its Twitter account, Petron said it will implement the rollback effective 12:01 a.m. of Feb. 1.

"ADVISORY: Petron will implement a P1.80/KG ... rollback in Gasul and Fiesta Gas prices effective 12:01 a.m., February 1," it said.

This translates to a rollback of P19.80 per 11-kg tank of cooking gas.

Petron's rollback comes barely a week after oil firms raised prices of other fuel products. The price increases had included:

- 35 centavos per liter for diesel
- 45 centavos per liter for kerosene
- 90 centavos per liter for unleaded and premium gas
- 95 centavos per liter for regular gas
