Emperador aims for 33% of global brandy sales

Emperador Distillers Inc. is planning to double its sales volume in five years to corner a third of the global brandy market in five years, the company said in a statement. Emperador Brandy was already named the world's best-selling brandy by drinks journal Drinks International when it sold 20.1 million cases in 2011. In 2012, the company sold 31 million cases. “We hope to have 33 percent of the world’s brandy market within five years. In that time, out of three bottles of brandy sold on this planet, one bottle will be Emperador,” said Emperador International Ltd. managing director Jorge Domecq. The company is also continuing its international expansion. According to Domecq, Spain will probably eventually account for one fourth of the production of the brandy. Emperador Distillers is a wholly-owned unit of Alliance Global Group Inc., led by Megaworld property magnate Andrew Tan. Its net earnings are projected to grow by 20 percent in 2013 from P2.31 billion in 2011. The company produces Emperador, Generoso and Emperador Light brandy and a line of flavored beverages called The Bar. — BM, GMA News
