Convergys to take over Datacom Asia operations

Convergys Corp. is taking over the Asia call center operations of New Zealand-based Datacom that include the sites in the Philippines and Malaysia as part of an acquisition that will be completed in the next six months. The acquisition of Datacom is part of Covergys’ pursuit of growth opportunities that add value to shareholders and clients, the Cincinati-based company's CEO, Andrea Ayers, said in a statement Friday. "The addition of Datacom's contact center operations is in line with our acquisition strategy, allowing us to expand our language capabilities and global footprint,” she said. “It enables us to forge new relationships with the prominent technology companies that Datacom now represents, and provides additional opportunities for growth," Ayers added. Datacom built a world-class multi-site, multilingual Asia business process outsourcing (BPO) business catering to a suite of long-term blue chip clients, said Jonathan Ladd, Datacom Group chief executive officer. “We're proud to sell this asset to Convergys, in full confidence that our contact center staff will be joining a strong organization that is solely focused on providing exceptional services to a world-class portfolio of customers and will support outstanding growth opportunities for our staff," Ladd noted. Datacom and Convergys expect to close the transaction as soon as practicable and the integration of the two organizations is expected to take between six and nine months. The acquisition would accrue to Convergys' 2013 earnings. — VS, GMA News
