Ford Philippines reports soaring sales

Ford Philippines sold 6,261 vehicles in June, up  87.23 percent from 3,344 a year earlier, led by strong demand for the pick-up model Ranger, the carmaker said in an e-mailed statement Friday.

“Exceptional response to our full lineup of segment-leading Ford vehicles is helping drive record sales,” said managing director Kay Hart.

The Ranger sold 417 units—the model's “... second best-ever single month performance.” Ford said sports utility vehicles boosted growth. The Everest sold 192 units in June, the Explorer 115 units, and the Escape 133 units.

The carmaker's “... widest-ever range of Ford vehicles in the Philippines is helping introduce our brand to even more customer segments and is helping attract so many new to Ford customers,”  said Hart.

The company also sold 282 Fiesta models, and 19 Mustang sports cars.

First half sales more than doubled to 1,245 vehicles, up 112.09 percent from 587 a year earlier.

“As we continue to introduce more segment-leading cars and trucks in the Philippines, and our customer base continues to rapidly expand, we remain firmly committed to further enhancing our service to ensure that we’re providing the very best customer experience,” said Hart.

Ford Philippine is now establishing a wider network of dealers. It opened its Manila Bay and Bohol dealerships last June, while new outlets in Baguio, General Santos and Zamboanga will open in the next six months. — VS, GMA News
