Robinsons Land's Go Hotels rides on govt's focus on tourism

Go Hotels is boosting an expansion program by opening new branches this year and in 2014, bringing the total number of rooms to 1,200 from more than 700, the company said Thursday, noting the plan is to ride on government efforts to boost the tourism industry.

The Ortigas branch in Metro Manila will open this year, while the Iloilo branch will open in the first quarter of 2014 and the Butuan branch in Agusan Valley will open in late 2014, the budget hotel chain of Gokongwei-led Robinsons Land Inc. noted in a statement, citing general manager Elizabeth D. Gregorio.

“These are exciting times for the Philippine tourism as the hospitality business open more outlets, especially in Metro Manila, in anticipation of the arrival of more tourists because of the government’s focus on the industry,” Gregorio said.

The Iloilo and Butuan hotels are parts and parcels of Robinsons Malls – also owned by the Gokongweis – and the hotel in Ortigas is withing walking distance from Robinsons Galleria, the company noted.
