Online brokerage Coherco signs up for PSETradex stock trading platform

Coherco Securities is launching its online brokerage on the PSETradex stock trading platform, the Philippine Philippine Stock Exchange said Tuesday, noting latest company to join brings the exchange closer to fully realizing its goal of enabling traders to give investors the option to trade using the internet.

“This development also bodes well for online investors as they now have more online brokers to choose from,” Hans B. Sicat, PSE president and chief executive officer, said in an e-mailed statement.

Online transactions were up 18.8 percent to P195.75 billion in 2012 from P164.75 billion a year earlier, according to PSE data. Online trading accounted for 6.7 percent of value turnover last year, excluding block sales.

PSE earlier noted a 48.2-percent surge in online investor accounts to 78,216 in 2012 from 52,720 in 2011.

Early this month, BA Securities Inc. launched BA Securities Online as the first online trading platform to go live on the PSETradex.
