DHL to set up 3rd RP gateway by Q2 of '07
DHL Express Philippines plans to establish a third gateway in the Philippine Freeport or Economic Zone in the second quarter of the year, the company's executive said Friday. "We definitely exploring the possibilities to set up a gateway either in Freeport or Economic Zone, possibly sometimes in the second quarter," Larry Llamzon, DHL Express Philippines country manager told reporters. He said the new gateway may be located in the Subic-Clark-Bataan triangle in Central Luzon. A gateway is a facility that served to the movement of shipments in and out of the country. "We are currently discussing with the government for possible expansion in the Freeport and Economic Zone," Llamzon said. DHL currently has two gateways in the countryâone in Metro Manila which handles 90 percent of its shipments, and another one in Metro Cebu. DHL operates strategically located service centers in various parts of the country to decentralize operations and offer faster and shorter delivery times.
