Emperador Distillers, Diageo sign deal over global alcoholic beverage brands


Emperador Distillers Inc. and premium alcoholic beverage producer Diageo signed a deal to bring  global iconic brands into the Philippines, banking on the robust economy to support the business.
 
"The partnership signals the opportunities for growth in the alcohol drinks sector driven by the Philippines' thriving economy and a rapidly growing middle class that is expected to almost double by
2020," business tycoon Andrew Tan's Emperador noted in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
 
Diageo owns the brands Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, J&B, Windsor, Buchanan's and Bushmills whiskies, Smirnoff, Ciroc and Ketel One vodkas, Baileys, Captain Morgan, Jose Cuervo, Tanqueray and Guinness.
 
Emperador is the maker of Emperador, Generoso and Emperador Light brandies, plus the flavored alcoholic beverage called The bar. It is also the distributo of 'Pik-Nik' brand shoestring potato snack and Ernest and Julio Gallo wines.
 
In 2011, Emperador bought the production facility of Diageo's Philippine unit. – VS, GMA News
