Diageo to introduce new alcoholic beverage brands under Emperador deal
By DANESSA O. RIVERA, GMA News
Premium alcoholic beverage producer Diageo is introducing brands that have yet to reach Philippine shores targeted for the middle class segment under a partnership agreement Emperador Distilleries Inc.
In an e-mailed statement Thursday, Diageo said it will introduce brands that are not yet available in the Philippine market.
"Diageo is excited by the growth potential of the alcohol drinks sector in the Philippines," the statement read.
"The agreement with EDI will help Diageo participate in the growing middle-class that is expected to almost double by 2020," it added.
On Wednesday, business tycoon Andrew Tan's Emperador said it signed a deal to bring global iconic brands into the Philippines

Diageo said it will maintain its existing distributors for some international brands in the Philippines market.
"This agreement (with Emperador) is separate to, and has no impact on, these international spirits brands already in the market," it said.
Diageo has local distributors for Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff vodka, Captain Morgan, Ciroc, Ketel One, Baileys and Diageo Reserve Brands, a line of premium spirits which include Ciroc, Ketel One, Singleton and Tanqueray.
Apart from those mentioned, Diageo also owns the brands Crown Royal, J&B, Windsor, Buchanan's and Bushmills whiskies, Jose Cuervo and Guinness.
Emperador is the maker of Emperador, Generoso and Emperador Light brandies, plus the flavored alcoholic beverage called The bar. It is also the distributor of 'Pik-Nik' brand shoestring potato snack and Ernest and Julio Gallo wines.
In 2011, Emperador bought the production facility of Diageo's Philippine unit. – VS, GMA News
