Hyundai Eon boosts HARI February sales
Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the Philippine distributor of Hyundai cars, registered a 5 percent increase in sales last February from a year earlier, mainly driven by higher demand for passenger cars.
It sold 1,710 units from 1,632 in the same comparable period.
Passenger car sales grew by 41 percent to 1,164 compared with 825, with the Eon subcompact providing sales a major boost. HARI on Thursday said it sold 320 percent more of the hatchback model year-on-year.
However, the didn't have much luck in selling light commercial vehicles and noted it sold only 546 units in February – down 32 percent 807.
In the two months to February, the company sold 3,953 units or 9 percent more than the 3,624 sold a year earlier.
Passenger car sales rose by 27 percent to 2,611 units from 2,061 in the first two months of 2013 .
Light commercial vehicle sales were down 14 percent to 1,342 units from 1,563.
From total sale of 22,033 vehicles in 2013, HARI is gunning to sell 10 percent more this year by unveiling new models and expanding its dealerships to 46.
