Mitsubishi PHL posts record sales in February

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) sold 4,409 units in February—a monthly record for the company, MMPC said in a statement Monday.

The February sales exceeded those of December 2013, when it sold 4,322 units. It was also a 29-percent improvement from January's sales of 3,411 and a 24-percent year-on-year growth from 3,554 sold in February 2013.

The company attributed the sales growth mainly to strong demand for passenger cars (PC) and light commercial vehicles (LCV).

PC sales went up 6 percent month-on-month to 919 units, with the Mirage hatchback and Mirage G4 doing well.

LCV sales reached 3,351 units, up 39 percent from 2,407 in January thanks to strong sales of the Montero Sport, the Mitsubishi L300 and the Adventure.

For the first two months of the year, MMPC sales were up 22 percent year on year to 7,820 units.

According to vice president for marketing services Froilan Dytianquin, MMPC is aiming to sell more than 50,000 units this year, or about 16 percent higher than last year's total. — BM, GMA News
