Anchor Land taps Accor Group to manage historic Admiral Hotel
Anchor Land Holdings Inc. has tapped hotel management services provider Accor Group to take care of business at Admiral Hotel and is spending more than P1 billion to rebuild and rehabilitate the historic landmark along Roxas Boulevard into five-star boutique hotel fronting Manila Bay.
The project was launched Tuesday night at Sofitel Hotel, and Anchor Land vice chairman Steve Li told reporters in an interview that the Accor Group was hired to manage the 150-room hotel because of branding reasons and its long standing expertise in the industry.
The Admiral Hotel redevelopment starts in the third quarter of the and is expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2016.
With the the Accor Group management, Admiral Hotel will be the first MGallery Hotel in the Philippines, Li noted, citing one of the high-end hotel brands under the group.
The group's portfolio include the brands Sofitel, Pullman, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Suite Novotel, Mercure, Adagio, and Hotel F1.
"We are delighted that the Admiral Boutique Hotel will join the MGallery Collection of unique hotels," Patrick Basset, chief operating officer for Accor Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Cambodia, Laos,
Myanmar and the Philippines, said in a separate statement.
"Once complete, this enchanting, historical hotel situated in a marvelous location in Manila will be the perfect showcase accommodation of what the MGallery hotel brand has to offer,” he added.
Admiral Hotel is part of the Anchor Land Admiral Baysuites project which includes a 53-story condominium.
Anchor Land is spending P5 billion in capital expenses this year to finance the opening of two residential projects in Binondo area, while building two warehouses, said Li.
