Bloomberry chief Razon expects Solaire to turn in profits this year

Bloomberry Resorts Corp., operator of Solaire Resort & Casino, is betting operations will be in the black this year from a P1.35-billion net loss last year.

The first gaming operation to open in Entertainment City, Solaire Resort  incurred a high level of start up costs, Bloomberry chairman and president Enrique K. Razon Jr., said in an interview with reporters at the sidelines of the annual stockholders' meeting of International Container Terminal which he also heads.

"We expect to make profit this year. The loss last year was due to pre-operating expenses leading to the opening of the casino," Razon said, without citing profit figures for 2014.

City of Dreams is scheduled to open in  in Entertainment City this year. The integrated resort and casino of Melco Crown (Philippines) Resorts Corp. and Belle Corp. of the SM group will open in the third quarter. – VS, GMA News
