San Miguel enters non-carbonated drinks industry


Food and beverage giant San Miguel Corp. on Wednesday marked its entry into the non-carbonated beverage industry by launching a line of tea and juice drinks under its Magnolia Brand. Launched through newly created unit San Miguel Beverages Inc., the new products will be available nationwide under the names Magnolia Fruit Drink and Magnolia Health Tea. San Miguel Beverages was created shortly after the food and beverage giant sold its 65 percent stake in Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines Inc. to The Coca Cola Company for $590 million. The deal was sealed last month. The deal with TCCC includes a non-compete clause preventing San Miguel from manufacturing carbonated soft drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks and flavored water within five years from the transaction.-GMANews.TV
