After Smart's free Internet promo, Globe says 30 MB 'too small' for its subscribers
By RIE TAKUMI, GMA News
The 30-MB limit given by Smart Communications Inc. and its affiliates to tens of millions of prepaid subscribers under a free mobile Internet promo is "too small" for subscribers of Globe Telecom Inc., Goble Communications SVP Yoly Crisanto told GMA News Online on Friday.
Earlier Friday, Smart, Sun Cellular and Talk N' Text gave their 66-million prepaid subscribers free internet access that consists of 30 MB of data per day.
The volume-based service will be available in 2G, 3G, and LTE, and will continue until Nov. 30.
"We learned a lot from our customers, (and) we were given insights on their digital preferences and lifestyles. (Those preferences) are what we're working on," Crisanto said.
She said this conclusion stemmed from the observation of Globe subscribers who use the free Facebook service that Globe claimed it "pioneered" and launched in the Philippines.
Asked if Globe will also offer its subscribers free internet service, Crisanto noted that Globe still has "a lot in store that we can give them," but declined to reveal additional details.
In a statement on Friday, Globe said it was up to customers to choose "the telco provider with the best digital services and the fastest experience possible."
"Amidst all the hype and promotions, we are happy in fact that, at Globe, we deliver both," the statement read. – VS, GMA News
