Japanese hotel chain Okura Hotels & Resorts has struck a deal with Resorts World Bayshore City Inc. to manage and operate its first hotel in the Philippines.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange Tuesday, Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. said Hotel Okura Manila will be constructed in Entertainment City in Parañaque "in line with its overseas development strategy of focusing on developing Asian markets."
The 380-room hotel will cover about 38,000 square meters in Bayshore City Resorts World.
Travellers International owns 95 percent of Resorts World Bayshore, the owner and operator of Bayshore City Resorts World that is expected to open by the fourth quarter of 2018.
The site development of Bayshore City Resorts World has started while the actual construction and development will begin this year.
Five-star Okura hotels were launched in Macau in 2011 and in Bangkok in 2012.
Hotel Okura, as a "gesture of goodwill" between Philippines and Japan, donated $100,000 to the Philippine Red Cross for the recovery of regions affected by recent natural disasters, according to the disclosure. – Kathryn Mae P. Tubadeza/VS, GMA News
