OLX, AyosDito.ph merge into single online marketplace

"Ibenta mo na with real people, real deals!"

OLX and AyosDito.ph, the country's two biggest online marketplaces, are merging into a single platform to help Philippine users close deals more easily.

By the end of the merger, OLX Philippines will retain its brand name.

The merger was announced last Nov. 13 and officially closed Thursday, OLX PR and Corporate Communications lead Jean Magboo told GMA News Online.

"This merger is part of a global deal between Naspers and 701Search to establish joint ventures and align operations in Latin America and Asia for the development of their online classifieds platforms," she said.

The merger follows a larger abundance of sale and a bigger client base, Magboo said.

"Merging the two strong platforms can only lead to shared expertise and knowledge to effectively educate the market about online classifieds and most importantly, increase the number of successful transactions for our users," she noted.

Starting Jan. 16, all AyosDito.ph ads will be moved to OLX.

"Their listers will receive a notification from us asking them to check which ads they would want to repost on our site. By Jan. 22, AyosDito.ph will officially be redirected to OLX," Magboo said.

AyosDito.ph users can get more information about their ads through the OLX corporate website .

In March 2014, Sulit.com.ph merged with international classified ads network OLX and changed its brand name to OLX Philippines.

OLX, named after the abbreviation of 'online exchange', is used on over 106 countries in 40 languages, and is one of the biggest classified ads network in the world.

Sulit.com.ph was founded by RJ David with his wife, Arianne, in September 2006. It was launched as an "experimental website" that eventually focused on classified ads. — JDS, GMA News
