PAL cancels Tacloban flights due to Saturday's runway incident
Flag carrier Philippine Airlines has canceled flights to and from Tacloban Monday, two days after a private jet carrying government officials skidded off the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport runway and downgraded the gateway capacity to smaller planes.
"PAL operations in Tacloban will continue to utilize Bombardier aircraft as A320 planes are still not allowed due to runway obstruction caused by overshooting of a private jet," the flag carrier said in a statement Monday.
Passengers affected by the situation will be re-accommodated through the following special flights:
PAL said passengers are being notified by its contact center about their replacement flights. They may also check their new flight schedule by calling PAL reservations hotline 855-8888.
Last Saturday, a Bombardier Global Express plane skidded off the runway minutes after Pope Francis left Tacloban.
