PAL completes e-ticketing system

Lucio Tan's Philippine Airlines on Friday said it has completed the implementation of electronic ticketing for all the flights in its network, seven months ahead of the International Air Transport Association's deadline for the world's airlines to adopt the system. PAL, which is the country's flag carrier, said it is the first carrier in the Philippines to be fully enabled in e-ticketing - a technology that does away with paper tickets, thus providing a major convenience for passengers. "E-ticketing is a major step towards building a comprehensive electronic commerce system in PAL - a strategic investment that we expect will yield long-term benefits," PAL president Jaime J. Bautista said. Bautista said the company is currently enhancing its Internet booking facility. Internet booking accounted for over P1 billion of PAL's sales for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2007. The enhanced facility will be re-launched later this year, Bautista said. - GMANews.TV
