PHLPost lowers rates for domestic registered mail

Good news for people sending registered mail within the country: The Philippine Postal Corp. has lowered rates for domestic registered mail.

PHLPost, in an announcement on its website on Wednesday, said the lower rates may mean savings of P5 to P45 for regular and future clients.

It said the new rates came after reviews on how to make sending mails affordable among its clients.

Registered mail is usually used by law offices and government offices, especially by the judiciary for sending subpoenas.

Under the reduced rates:

  • mails weighing 20 grams or below will cost P20 for intra, P25 for interland, and P30 for interair
  • mail weighing 1,501 to 2,000 grams will cost P110 for intra, P125 for interland, and P150 for interair.

Before, mail weighing 20 grams or below cost P25 for intra and P30 for inter. Mail weighing 1,501 to 2,000 grams cost P155 for intra and P205 for inter.

PHLPost said "intra" is posted from one province for delivery to the same province, while "interland" is posted from one province for delivery by land to another province.

Interair is posted from one province for delivery by air to another province.

Security

Registered mail is secured with the entire process being recorded from acceptance to delivery to the intended recipient.

A sender may attach as proof of delivery a registry return receipt to be signed by the recipient. Indemnity is paid if the registered mail is lost or damaged. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
