DOTC to prequalify bidders in P65-B LRT-6
The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) plans conducting the prequalifying conference for Light Rail Transit Line 6 (LRT-6), a P65.09-billion public-private partnership (PPP) project, the PPP Center said on Tuesday.
The conference will happen on February 15 at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria. The DOTC started inviting groups to prequalify and bid on the project as early as December 21, 2015.
The LRT-6 is a 19-kilometer railway that will run from Niyog, Bacoor to Dasmariñas, Cavite along the Aguinaldo Highway.
Its seven stations will include Niyog, Tirona, Imus, Daang Hari, Salitran, Congressional Avenue, and Governor's Drive.
"The project will improve passenger mobility and reduce the volume of vehicular traffic in the Cavite area by providing a higher capacity mass transit system," the PPP Center said.
"It also aims to spur economic development along the extension corridor," it added.
Under the 30-year concession agreement, the private partner will finance, design, build, operate and maintain, and procure the rolling stock for the LRT-6.
The project was approved by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) board, chaired by President Benigno Aquino III in September 2015. – Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VS, GMA News
