Max's Group to open China Yellow Cab stores in July

The commercial operations of Yellow Cab Pizza stores in China will start next month, Max's Group Inc. (MGI) said on Thursday.

MGI President and CEO Robert F. Trota told reporters in Quezon City that the maiden stores are set to open "by July."

The company is expanding its footprint in China by opening at least 15 Yellow Cab Pizza stores, including in Beijing, over the next five years in partnership with Chinese conglomerate Zhongfa Group.

"We've found a very good location," Trota noted.

He said earlier that the first Yellow Cab store will rise in Beijing, with a younger target market, mainly millennials.

"The younger market will be the driving force, driven by the millennials. We believe Yellow Cab pizza can win the heart of this targeted segment," he said.

Development deals

Max's also has a separate development deal with food and beverage firm Changsha New Yorker Catering Management Co. Ltd. to build at least 10 Yellow Cab Pizza stores in the next five years.

Trota said the company has a commitment to open 131 stores.
"For now our focus is on the Middle East, Asia, and North America. In due time we'll be looking at the EU," Trota said.

The company has sealed development agreements with Pagh Pte. Ltd. to build at least five Yellow Cab Pizza stores in Singapore, and with Jalal Holding for at least five in Jordan, and 10 in Egypt.

Yellow Cab operates a network of 135 branches, including six franchised outlets in Qatar and one in UAE. There are also plans to put up a pilot branch in Hawaii.
