GMA Network sees possibility of airing Kapuso programs in Bangladesh

GMA Network Inc. on Tuesday discussed with the Bangladesh envoy the possibility of having Kapuso programs aired in the South Asian country.

GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon discussed the matter during the visit of Bangladesh Ambassador and retired Major General John Gomes to the network offices.

Gomes is set to end his tour of duty within the year.

The Bangladesh envoy said they are open to the possibility of having Kapuso programs aired in his country due to the strong relations between the two countries.

“You know Bangladesh is a Christian country also just like us. Maybe that would be the common denominator that will enable our programs to gain access in their market,” Gozon said in an interview.

Gomes welcomed Gozon’s gesture and said he is impressed with the organization setup of the network.

“It is very interesting. It is the first time actually that GMA, and the President himself, is inquiring if we can somehow link up with the Bangladesh TV channels. We have potential to explore on this. And why not?” Gomes said.

The network has launched international channels in several countries. In an effort to expand its global footprint, GMA kicked off last March its partnership with Dubai’s OSN and Singapore’s StarHub.

This led to the rolling out of GMA channels in Singapore, North Africa and the Middle East.

GMA has three international channels: GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV and GMA News TV International.

Last year, the broadcast network launched services in Europe through LycaTV covering 16 European countries.

As of now, GMA’s channels are available in 60 countries. —KG, GMA News
