Oishi snack manufacturer to build new plant in China

Filipino company Liwayway Marketing Corp., which produces the O-ishi line of snacks, is looking to open another plant in China this year. Jay Diaz, Liwayway Marketing assistant to chairman, told reporters on the sidelines of the Good News Kapihan on Thursday that the company will be starting the construction of its 13th plant in China. “This will be in the Xin Jiang province, the westernmost province of China," Diaz said. Liwayway Marketing is owned by the Chan family, which is related to Ben Chan of the clothing empire Bench. Besides the China plants, Liwayway Marketing has three production lines in the Philippines, two in Vietnam, one in Thailand and another in Indonesia. Diaz added that while going public is always an option for Liwayway Marketing, the company is still studying the proper timing of doing so. The company last year earned some $400 million in revenues, the bulk of which came from its China operations. - GMANews.TV
