Globe sets up 0917-Duterte hotline for Davao bombing
Globe Telecom Inc. has activated the 0917-Duterte (0917-3883783) hotline to receive calls and text messages dedicated to information that will lead to the arrest of those responsible for the Roxas Night Market bombing in Davao City.
The hotline will serve as "a special and dedicated mobile number for calls and texts from Davaoeños who will report possible leads to catch the perpetrators of the recent bombing incident in Davao," Globe said in a statement on Tuesday.
The night market bombing claimed 14 lives and injured 70 others in President Rodrigo Duterte's hometown.
“With the hotline number, Globe is able to help public officials and residents of Davao City in strengthening peace and order in the city by putting in place an easy to remember and accessible number where they can report leads and information that can help catch perpetrators of the recent bombing incident,” Froilan Castelo, Globe general counsel said.
Regular call and text messaging charges will apply.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio thanked Globe for enabling a special mobile number that will hopefully help solve the bombing incident.
"The hotline will definitely pave the way for a more concerted and collaborative effort from the people of Davao City to combat acts of senseless terrorism," the mayor said.
On September 7, the Philippine National Police has released a composite sketch of an alleged suspect in the night market blast.
Aside from the 0917-Duterte hotline, Globe said it activated the government's emergency and complaints hotlines 911 and 8888 in "support of the government’s initiative to curb criminality and improve the overall peace and order situation in the country."
The telco is also providing text messaging access for 2286 (Bato), an SMS hotline reporting a crime to the Philippine National Police. — Ted Cordero/VDS, GMA News
