LRT-1 elevators, escalators restored, says LRMC

All elevators and escalators of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) have been completely restored, the Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) said Wednesday.

"The said restoration now makes the 32 elevators and escalators in Doroteo Jose, EDSA, Roosevelt, Balintawak and Monumento stations functional for the comfort and convenience of the riding public," the company said in an emailed statement.

The LRMC also said it Braille buttons in the elevators and accessibility controls for persons in wheelchairs were incorporated in the facilities in line with regulations for PWD (persons with disability).

The restorations were done with equipment manufacturers Schindler and Otis.

A joint venture between Metro Pacific Investments Corp.'s Metro Pacific Light Rail Corp. and Ayala Corp.'s AC Infrastructure Holdings Corp., LRMC took the operations of LRT-1 on September 12, 2015.

Among its priorities were to restore the escalators, elevators and passenger terminals in the train stations, the company earlier said. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VS, GMA News
