Grab eyes GrabCar services in Davao, Iloilo, Baguio, Cagayan De Oro

Transport network company Grab Philippines on Thursday said it planned to expand its GrabCar operations to at least four other cities where it has already established its GrabTaxi services.

"Anywhere we launch GrabCar, it receives very good response," Grab Managing Director Brian Cu told reporters on the sidelines of the GrabShare launch in Taguig City.

According to Cu, Grab wants to expand GrabCar operations to areas where its GrabTaxi service is already available, but does not yet have GrabCar.

Such areas include the cities of Davao, Iloilo, Baguio, and Cagayan de Oro.

Grab said its GrabCar service is "a car-booking app that revolutionizes the way you move by sending a private vehicle along your way at the tap of a button."

The service is already available in cities such as Manila, Cebu, and just recently, in Bacolod.

"It is actually doing pretty well... Quite well in Bacolod," Cu said.

Cu, however, said was a need to lift the Land Transportation and Franchising Board (LTFRB) order suspending the acceptance of new applications to become Transportation Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) providers, for the plan to move forward.

"We believe it solves a very, very present need for the commuter here so we are working with legislation," Cu said, noting it has already lobbied this to the LTFRB. —NB, GMA News
