e-Games service contract to be bidded out soon – Domingo
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) is on track to bid out the service contract for internet cafes dedicated to e-Games by the end of the month.
“The terms of reference has already been approved by the board and we’re ready to bid by the end of the month,” (PAGCOR) Chair Andrea N. Domingo told reporters in a briefing in Pasay City.
In December, more than four months after PhilWeb Corp. failed to extend a licensing deal with the gaming regulator, PAGCOR said it will select a service provider via public bidding.
“We would like to clarify that during the meeting between PAGCOR and PhilWeb officials last November 4, 2016, we explained to your representatives that the selection of the service provider for Pagcor’s online gaming operations will be in accordance to Republic Act Number 9184 (RA9184), preferably through public bidding,” Domingo said.
On Tuesday, Domingo confirmed that the selection process will be made through “public bidding by the end of the month or the first week of April.”
In February, PhilWeb said it will join the bidding to regain its service contract with PAGCOR. — VDS, GMA News
