McDonald's PHL gets certified by DOLE for labor, health standards
Golden Arches Development Corp. (GADC), the local franchise holder of McDonald's, on Wednesday said it received Certificates of Compliance (COCs) from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for complying with general labor and health standards covering its restaurants.
In an emailed statement, GADC said it was awarded the COCs for complying with the General Labor Standards, as well as Occupational Safety and Health Standards for all its restaurants in the National Capital Region (NCR).
As the first quick-service restaurant chain to be given COCs under the current administration, it has "hired regular employees for its permanent and part-time positions," GADC said.
"At McDonald's, it is important that we provide our employees with world-class training and other learning opportunities for their personal development," GADC Philippines President and CEO Kenneth S. Yang said.
"McDonald's currently has over 50,000 employees nationwide, all of whom receive government mandated and company benefits," the company said.
In February, the company said it intends to hire more working students for its stores, particularly outside Metro Manila, under the Special Program for Employment of Students.
It has allocated P3.5 billion to capital expenditure this year, largely to support the goal of opening 45 new stores.
"McDonald’s also seeks to continue expansion plans this year, with close to 50 new stores totaling an additional 5,000 employment opportunities," it said Wednesday. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
