Legazpi, Sorsogon traders charged for alleged P41.7M tax evasion
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Thursday filed criminal complaints with the Department of Justice (DOJ) against two businessmen in Bicol region for their alleged failure to pay taxes worth P41.79 million.
In the first complaint, the BIR charged Beethoven Delos Santos for violating Section 255 of the Tax Code over the non-payment of P13.094 million in taxes for 2009.
Delos Santos is the owner BDL Santos Construction & Supply based in Bitano, Legazpi City.
Also charged for the same violation was Antonio Ocampo Jr., the operator of Antones Enterprises which is engaged in the sale of iron ore.
Ocampo was assessed to have an estimated tax liability of P28.699 million for 2010.
BIR Legazpi records showed that Delos Santos and Ocampo were notified of their tax liabilities but failed to challenge them, thus making the assessments "final, executory, and demandable." — MDM, GMA News
