BPI extends operating hours due to to electronic services suspension

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) will extend operating hours to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, to accommodate clients while all electronic channels of the bank are temporarily suspended.

"To provide further assistance to our customers, all BPI and BPI Family Bank branches nationwide will remain open until 7:30 p.m. today," it said in a statement sent via text message.

BPI has temporarily suspended all electronic services since Wednesday morning to ensure that no questionable transactions are done while it is correcting the internal data processing error which caused earlier transactions to be double-posted.

"Efforts to resolve our internal systems error related to transaction mis-postings continue to make progress," it said.

"Access to our electronic channels will resume as soon as we are able to complete resolution," it added.

The Ayala-led lender has already assured the public that only a "small" percentage of accounts was affected by the glitch, and the issue has already been contained.

In the meantime, BPI has also appealed to the public not to withdraw the additional funds credited to their account due to the error. — BM, GMA News
