After 3 years, PAL revives flights to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Driven by public clamor, flag carrier Philippine Airlines has resumed its daily service to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on Thursday, some three years after it discontinued the route.

"The resumption of PAL flights between Manila and Kuala Lumpur will help foster economic and cultural ties between the Philippines and Malaysia. Most importantly, it addresses the clamor for a direct service between the two capital cities," PAL President and COO Jaime J. Bautista said in an e-mailed statement.

According to PAL, the resumption of its trips to Kuala Lumpur comes after it agreed to expand its code-share arrangement with Malaysia Airlines.

The arrangement widened the code-sharing of both companies to 12 domestic Malaysian destinations, and nine other domestic Philippine destinations.

“Through PAL flights and code-share partners, we can carry passenger traffic from Kuala Lumpur to China, Japan, South Pacific and North America and thus enhance our ASEAN network," Bautista said.

Passengers to and from Manila and Kuala Lumpur will be able to choose from any of the flights:

  • PR 525 departs from Manila every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 7:25 a.m. and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 11:00 a.m. local time.
  • PR 526 departs from Kuala Lumpur every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 12:10 p.m. local time and arrives in Manila at 3:50 p.m.
  • PR 527 departs from Manila on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and arrives in Kuala Lumpur at 3:00 p.m. local time.
  • PR 529 departs Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 4:00 p.m. local time and arrives in Manila at 7:30 p.m.

PAL is deploying the Airbus A321 for the route. The 199-seater aircraft has 12 seats in business class, 18 in premium economy, and 169 in regular economy. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/MDM, GMA News
