Globe services in select Mindanao areas down due to cut fiber

Customers of Globe Telecom Inc. in select areas in the Mindanao region are expected to experience disruption in mobile services, due to a fiber cut caused by a contractor of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In a public advisory posted on its GlobeICON Facebook page, the Ayala-led telco identified the areas affected as Basilan, Camiguin, Lanao, Misamis Occidental and Oriental, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Zamboanga.

The disruption of mobile services in these areas is "due to a fiber cut that happened as a result of DPWH operations working on a drainage project in Iligan."

Globe also identified the contractor as Lanao Builders, and said it is now working on restoration activities.

"We will file a formal protest to DPWH and a case against Lanao Builders because of the inconvenience experienced by our customers in the said areas," it said. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/KBK, GMA News
