San Miguel to build hydropower plant in Tarlac
San Miguel Corp. (SMC) on Wednesday confirmed plans to put up a hydropower project in Tarlac province, under unit Strategic Power Development Corp.
"Strategic Power Development Corp. (SPDC) is interested in developing the 500-megawatt Bulsa pumped-storage hydro project in Tarlac province," the company said in a regulatory filing.
SPDC operates as subsidiary of SMC Global Power Holdings Corp., which in turn is a subsidiary of San Miguel Corp.
Aside from the hydropower project in Tarlac, SMC earlier said it wanted to build a $2- billion spillway project to solve flooding in Metro Manila.
It also submitted an unsolicited proposal to extend the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) from Batangas to Tagaytay City in Cavite. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
