Cebu Pacific cancels Dubai-Manila flight due to 'technical issue'

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific on Wednesday said it has canceled a Manila-bound flight from Dubai due to a "technical issue" detected before the departure.

Cebu Pacific flight 5J015 Dubai-Manila was scheduled to depart at 3:10 a.m. Manila time (11:10 p.m. Dubai time) on August 22.

"Affected guests will be accommodated on the next available flight scheduled to depart at 3:10 a.m (August 24, Manila time) 11:10 p.m. (August 23, Dubai time)," the carrier said in a statement.

Affected passengers will be provided with meals, a one-way travel voucher, other necessities, and hotel accommodation, subject to visa policies of the United Arab Emirates, it said.

Passengers who were not able to avail of hotel accommodation due to visa policies of UAE were provided access to the airport lounge, it added.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this situation has caused. The safety of our passengers remains our top priority," Cebu Pacific said. —Ted Cordero/KG, GMA News
