PhilWeb unveils new logo

Gaming technology provider PhilWeb Corp. on Wednesday unveiled its new logo that reflects the company's transition under a new leadership.

The launch was made a year after the firm faced difficulties under the government-initiated crackdown on online gaming.

"The new logo reflects the company’s renewal under the leadership of Chairman Gregorio 'Greggy' Araneta III," PhilWeb said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange.

"The new logo presents a bold clarity to PhilWeb’s identity – a provider of superior and innovative products with the highest standards of customer service," the gaming technology firm added.

The unveiling of the new logo came a month after the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) gave PhilWeb a provisional certificate of accreditation as electronic gaming system (EGS) service provider.

An accredited EGS service provider can offer software and other services to the operators of PAGCOR-licensed gaming sites for electronic games.

"Rendered simply in black and red, the black palette represents the company’s deep commitment to corporate integrity and its role in Philippine society, reflecting its 17-year history of contributing to nation-building," PhilWeb said.

"The Red palette represents PhiWeb’s core values of innovation and excellence, and the solutions it brings to the vibrant gaming industry," it added.

Apart from a new logo, PhilWeb also notified the PSE of its new business address which is at 6/F Adamson Centre, 121 L.P. Leviste Street, Salcedo Village, Makati City.

In August last year, the Pagcor decided not to renew a licensing deal with PhilWeb after President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to stop the proliferation of online gambling in the country.

Duterte also tagged Roberto Ongpin, then-chairman of PhilWeb, as among the oligarchs that allegedly have undue influence on the government.

Ongpin has since sold his controlling stake in the gaming technology firm. — BAP, GMA News
