BURI denies role in MRT coach decoupling, downplays sabotage angle
The former maintenance provider of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 has denied any role in the recent glitches that hit the MRT3 particularly the decoupling last week of a coach from the rest of a northbound train on Thursday last week.
Busan Universal Rail Inc. made the statement after the Department of Transportation pointed to possible human intervention in the decoupling incident.
The DOTr has asked the National Bureau of Investigation to look into the possibility of sabotage in the decoupling incident.
"We don't see ourselves as involved in any of the present MRT3 serious incidents, and we have not received any invitation from the NBI," BURI spokesman Attorney Charles Mercado said on "QRT".
Transportation Undersecretary Cesar Chavez first raised the sabotage angle after the MRT's investigation into the incident revealed that the affected coach's black box was missing.
"We think Chavez's ruse about a sabotage angle is just his way of distracting the public from the real issues," Mercado said. —NB, GMA News
