AirAsia to lessen Manila-Bali flights starting January 2018
AirAsia Philippines will reduce the number of flights between Manila and Bali starting January 2018 in light of volcanic activity in Indonesia’s Mount Agung.
“Due to the ongoing impact of the recent volcanic activity involving Mt. Agung in Bali, Indonesia, Philippines AirAsia will be temporarily reducing flights between Manila and Bali from daily to four times weekly,” the airline said Monday.
Indonesia raised last month its warning on Mount Agung to level four alert, predicting an “imminent” risk of a large eruption.
The lower number of flights will start on January 20 to February 14.
During that period, flights from Manila will depart at 6:40 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while flights from Bali will depart at 11:20 p.m. on the same days.
Affected passengers may either reschedule flights within 14 calendar days from the original date without additional cost, or maintain the credit in their AirAsia BIG Loyalty account, or obtain a full refund.
“Guests that are affected by the changes and hold flight bookings before 14 February 2018 have been notified via their registered member e-mail account,” the airline said.
“AirAsia strongly urges all guests to keep their email addresses and mobile numbers with their country code prefix in the AirAsia member profiles to ensure that the airline can reach them for timely assistance,” it said. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
