Cebu Pacific secures IATA operational safety accreditation
Budget carrier Cebu Pacific on Thursday said it has completed the Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) program of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), said to be one of the most stringent audits of its kind in the world.
In an emailed statement, the carrier said it achieved full compliance with the safety audit, joining 429 airlines worldwide.
"It is considered as the accreditation with the highest standards for safety in the airline industry," it said.
IOSA is a global audit program using internationally-agreed standards for safety management in airlines, with carriers re-evaluated every two years.
"We are committed to upholding the highest possible standards for the benefit of our passengers. Hence, we chose to undergo the rigorous and stringent audit requirements for IOSA," Cebu Pacific president and CEO Lance Gokongwei said.
"Since it is considered the internationally-recognised and accepted benchmark for airline safety, we wanted to be sure that our protocols and regulations meet IOSA standards," he added. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
