DMCI Power posts 17% sales growth in Q1

Off-grid energy firm DMCI Power Corp. posted a 17-percent growth in sales volume during the first quarter of 2018.

In a regulatory filing submitted by parent DMCI Holdings on Wednesday, the company said sales volume reached 63 gigawatt-hours (GWh) in the first three months of the year from 54GWh in the same period last year.

Bulk of sales volume was recorded in Palawan with 28GWh, up 29 percent from 21GWh in 2017.

Total sales volume in Masbate grew 9 percent to 24GWh from 22GWH, while Mindoro saw its dispatch improve from 10GWh to 11GWh.

“The increasing electricity demand in our service areas is primarily driven by the growth in household consumption and entrepreneurial activities. This is supported by a reliable and adequate supply of electricity,” DMCI Power president Nestor Dadivas said.

“Our presence aids in sustaining the economic activities of these provinces,” Dadivas added.

DPC was established in 2006 to provide sufficient and reliable electricity to areas that are not connected to the main transmission grid. —Ted Cordero/KG, GMA News
