TESDA, PBEd to lift vocational education to global standards

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) on Monday inked a partnership to update the curriculum of vocational education and raise it to global standards.

Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by both parties in Taguig City, TESDA and PBEd are collaborating to improve the skills of vocational students enrolled in TESDA.

In the agreement, TESDA will take the lead in updating existing or developing new competency standards, curriculum, and training regulations with inputs from PBEd.

“This MOU signing activity signifies our continuing commitment ... creating a globally competitive skilled workforce, processing their required competencies and values in the global workforce,” said TESDA Deputy Director Rosanna Urdaneta during the signing.

PBEd will act as advisor and provide relevant and updated labor market information, and create an advisory committee that will implement the partnership.

“Our thrust really is making sure that graduates are employable and make them partake in the growth that the country is experiencing,” said PBEd executive director Love Basillote. —VDS, GMA News
