Grab on drug suspect driver’s arrest: We do not tolerate any criminal activity

Grab on Monday said it does not tolerate any criminal activity involving its partner drivers, following the arrest of a Grab driver in a buy-bust operation on Sunday.

“We do not tolerate any criminal activity by any of our partners. We will fully cooperate with any investigation through our security and safety team,” said Grab spokesperson Leo Gonzales.

Gonzales also said in a text message that Kristofer Jay Gavino, the driver who was arrested for allegedly selling drugs, has been deactivated from the Grab platform.

“On the part of the driver, who is accused committing the crime, he is automatically deactivated from our platform,” Gonzales said.

If proven guilty, Gavino will also be banned from Grab and will be included in its blacklist to be submitted to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, he added.

“Once confirmed then he is perpetually banned and his name becomes part of a blacklist we submit to the LTFRB, para 'di na po siya makakapagmaneho ng kahit ano pa mang sasakyang pampubliko,” Gonzales said.

Gavino was nabbed in an apartelle in Cubao after a poseur buyer was able to buy P500 of shabu from him.

Police were able to recover only nine sachets of suspected shabu from the suspect since he allegedly swallowed the other drugs. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
