ECOP president Donald Dee dies at 72


Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) president and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry honorary chairman and chief operating officer Donald Dee passed away on Saturday.

He was 72.

The news was confirmed by Dee's stepdaughter Apples Aberin in a post on Instagram on Sunday.

"The business community lost a passionate champion and leader, a stalwart in the industry, and a staunch advocate of and for employers," ECOP said in a statement.

Dee's wake is being held at the Capilla del Señor of Santuario de San Antonio in Makati City.

His family advised that there will be a daily celebration of the mass at his wake every 7 p.m. until Tuesday.

Dee's inurnment will be on Wednesday morning.

The deceased business leader was founding trustee of the Philippine Business for Education and also a former member of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council-Philippines.

Dee also became president of Phoenix Resource and Management Corporation and Pan Pacific Airways.

He was also a director of the Manila Exposition Complex, Inc. and a member of Beacheads-South East Asia New Zealand Trade & Enterprise.

Dee also previously served as commissioner of the Social Security System in 2001-2010, and director of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company. —Dona Magsino/KG, GMA News
