Duterte signs law renewing franchise of Globe subsidiary

President Rodrigo Duterte has signed a law renewing the franchise of Innove Communications, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of major mobile and broadband network operator Globe Telecom.

Duterte signed Republic Act 11151 on December 14 last year.

“The term of the franchise granted under Republic Act No. 7372 is hereby renewed for another 25 years from the date of its expiration. This franchise shall be deemed ipso facto [Latin phrase for by the fact itself] revoked in the event that the grantee fails to operate continuously for two years,” the law stated.

The law shall take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.

Formerly known as Isla Communications Company, Inc., Innove Communications offers voice, fixed line telecommunications, high-speed data services to individuals and enterprises. —NB, GMA News
