Cebu Pacific opens ‘study now, pay later’ plan to cadet pilot applicants

Cebu Pacific has opened 16 slots to prospective pilots under a “study now, pay later, zero-interest” scheme.

The budget carrier on Thursday said it will start accepting applications for the sixth batch of Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilots from 12:00 noon on Friday, February 15, until February 24.

Those interested may visit flyfta.com to submit applications for the program.

The program entails 52 weeks of integrated flight training, theory, and education at the Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) in Australia, four weeks of training to obtain a pilot’s license under the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

Successful candidates will be given Diplomas of Aviation for Commercial Pilot License—Aeroplane, Instrument Rating and Pilot in Command.

“The Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilot Program is open to all Filipino citizens who are college graduates and are proficient in English,” the airline said.

“There are no preferred college degrees, and applicants need only have an average grade of at least 70 percent or its equivalent in subjects related to Math, Physics, and English,” it added.

The application process begins with online pre-screening, followed by on-site screening for core skills and pilot aptitude tests, among other examinations for which a fee of $425.00 or about P19,000 will be charged.

In 2017, Cebu Pacific said it was shelling out some $25 million for the next five years of cadet pilot training program.

At present, 58 Cebu Pacific cadet pilots are undergoing training at FTA in Adelaide.

The fifth batch, also comprising 16 cadet pilots, is currently undergoing final briefings and pre-departure training and will depart for Australia in April 2019. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
