LPG prices may increase — oil industry sources, DOE

Oil industry sources are projecting a big-time hike in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices, according to a report by Bernadette Reyes on Balitanghali on Wednesday.

They are anticipating an increase of P1.50 to P2.00 per kilogram of LPG, which means a P22.00 price increase for an 11-kilo LPG tank.

At the start of the year P5.00 has already been added to LPG prices including the excise tax.

The Department of Energy (DOE) agreed that there is a possible increase in LPG prices considering the contract price of LPG rose in January and February.

“May tsansang tumaas ang LPG, tas given yung demand noong nakaraan na malamig, e heating fuel din ang LPG so parang ganun yung magiging trend,” said the DOE oil industry management bureau assistant director Rodela Romero.

Meanwhile, the DOE advised consumers some tips to cut down on LPG consumption: use the appropriate size of pots or pans, make sure all ingredients are prepared before cooking, and set the stove on an efficient level of fire. — Joviland Rita/BM, GMA News
