Megaworld hikes investment for Gen. Trias township to P15B

Property giant Megaworld Corp. is increasing its 10-year capital spending to build its urban township in General Trias, Cavite on the back of increasing demand for residential and office spaces.

“We are increasing our investment to build our 140-hectare Maple Grove township in General Trias, Cavite. From P10 billion, we are increasing our capital spending to P15 billion as we plan to build more components in the township,” Megaworld chief strategy officer Kevin Tan said at a press briefing in Pasay City on Wednesday.

“We are fast tracking the developments in Maple Grove as we see a growing demand from both residential and office market market in this area,” Tan said.

The property developer is banking on  General Trias’s potential as a new developing city in the province of Cavite.

“General Trias is a key growth city in Cavite. We look forward to building its own ‘green’ CBD (central business district) and this is happening in the next five to seven years,” Tan said.

The Megaworld official also said that its 35-hectare Maple Grove Commercial District launched in 2017 has been sold out with a total investors value of P9 billion.

The district within the Maple Grove township offered 363 prime lots for sale, ranging from 360 square meters to 1,008 square meters.

The company will also develop its first mall in Cavite within the township, which will have around 24,000 square meters of gross floor area. The mall will have sustainability features such as maximized use of natural light, grey water recycling facilities, provisions for roof solar panels, and perceived cooling design.

“Maple Grove is easily accessible via the Coastal Road and Cavitex, with an estimated travel time of only 30 to 45 minutes from Makati CBD and Fort Bonifacio, and less than an hour to and from Ninoy Aquino International Airport,” Tan said.

“Soon, it will have a direct link to the Cavite-Laguna Expressway,” he said. — RSJ, GMA News
