Globe services in Pampanga restored after 6.1-magnitude quake
Services of Globe Telecom Inc. in Pampanga have been restored as of Tuesday morning following the 6.1-magnitude earthquake that hit Luzon on Monday afternoon.
"Globe Telecom has restored services in Porac and Masantol, Pampanga and has deployed Cellsite-on-Wheels (COWs) to further augment services in affected areas," the Ayala-led telco said in a statement.
The company said select areas in Pampanga experienced service interruptions due to an extended period of no commercial power.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology recorded a magnitude 6.1 earthquake that hit Zambales at 5:11 p.m. Monday.
Intensity V was reported in San Felipe, Zambales; Malolos and Obando, Bulacan; Quezon City; Lipa, Batangas; Manila; Abucay, Bataan; Valenzuela City; and Magalang Pampanga.
The earthquake also affected the following areas:
- Intensity IV - Pasig City; Makati City; Caloocan City; Meycauayan and San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan; Floridablanca, Pampanga; Villasis, Pangasinan; Tagaytay City; Villasis, Pangasinan; Baguio City; Marikina City; Las Pinas City
- Intensity III - Dasmarinas, Indang and Gen. Trias, Cavite; Lucban, Quezon; Muntinlupa City, Cabanatuan City; Palayan City; Gapan City; Santo Domingo and Talavera, Nueva Ecija
- Intensity II - Baler, Aurora.
"As we care for our customers, Globe is offering libreng tawag and libreng charging stations at the Public Market compound in Brgy. Cangatba, Porac, Pampanga," said Globe.
"The company is in close coordination with the local government of Pampanga and other inter-agency bodies for relief operations," it added.
Normal services for Smart
Meanwhile, Smart Communications Inc. said that its services continue to operate normally.
"Based on our initial assessment, the earthquake has not caused any significant damage to our network," it said in a text message.
