Amazon creates 3,200 customer service jobs in PHL

Amazon.com, Inc. announced on Tuesday it has created over 3,200 jobs in service centers based in Cebu and Manila.

The retail giant, which initially created 1,800 jobs based in the Philippines in 2018, said the additional job opportunities include a range of roles including customer service associates, team managers and group managers.

According to Amazon, the creation of additional jobs was part of the company's initiative in developing new talent and creating investment in the Philippines.

“We are excited to be continuing to invest in the Philippines and creating thousands of new roles. It has been a pleasure to work with such talented people in the Philippines who bring high levels of experience and passion to their work,” Tom Weiland, the VP of Worldwide Customer Service and Amazon, said.

Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) director General Charito Plaza meanwhile thanked Amazon for choosing to invest in the Philippines through PEZA and for creating an additional 3,200 jobs from the initial jobs of 1,800.

"Amazon’s contributions are helping the country to become a key player in the digital economy in ASEAN and the world," Plaza was quoted as saying. —Margaret Claire Layug/LDF, GMA News
