911 TESDA, a 'Grab-like' app matching TESDA grads to jobs, to be launched soon

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will launch a mobile platform that will connect people in need of technical services to TESDA-trained workers, Director General Isidro Lapeña said Wednesday.

"911 TESDA," the platform, will "work just like Grab," Lapeña said, referring to the service in which commuters book taxis, cars, or couriers through a mobile application.

He said a working group is ironing out details and that TESDA will invite stakeholders in order to come up with a "reasonable" pricing scheme.

"We might be able to launch it in July," Lapeña said at a news forum in Manila.

He said the application will be pilot-run in Metro Manila.

A TESDA press release shows the agency has signed a memorandum of understanding with nine online manpower service providers in connection with the application.

Lapeña said the application will both serve the public and help TESDA graduates find work. —KG, GMA News
